{"id":613,"date":"2023-09-19T11:39:29","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T09:39:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/future-higher-education.hu\/en\/?p=613"},"modified":"2023-09-19T11:39:29","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T09:39:29","slug":"the-role-and-agency-of-students-in-business-school-discourses-new-article","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/future-higher-education.hu\/en\/the-role-and-agency-of-students-in-business-school-discourses-new-article\/","title":{"rendered":"The role and agency of students in business school discourses \u2013 new article"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of our research centre R\u00e9ka Tam\u00e1ssy, Zsuzsanna G\u00e9ring, G\u00e1bor Kir\u00e1ly, R\u00e9ka Plugor and M\u00e1rton Rakovics published a new article in the <em>Journal of International Education in Business. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>In the article &#8220;<em>The portrayal of the role and agency of students and higher education institutions in highly ranked business school discourses<\/em>&#8220;, the researchers analysed the \u2019about us\u2019 section of the top 100 business schools\u2019 websites from the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2019 Business and Economics list. Their study aimed to investigate how highly ranked business schools portray ideal students in terms of their attributes and agency and how business schools represent themselves and their roles.<\/p>\n<p>The study was carried out using a mixed methodological textual analysis. First, six language use groups were identified with the help of latent Dirichlet allocation, and second, these six groups were qualitatively analysed, focusing on sentences containing the word \u2018student\u2019.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The research project found that the six identified language use groups (<em>offer and receive; professional and self-development; entrepreneurial success; student formation; motivation and support; and academic perfectionism) <\/em>greatly differ regarding the portrayed agency and role of the students.
